Rural America to See Major Investments in Inflation Reduction Act that Will Drive Economic Growth an

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Chris Gibbs, Ohio farmer and Board President of Rural Voices USA, the nationwide network of farmers and rural community leaders, released the following statement on the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, a bill that includes historic investments in rural areas. The Inflation Reduction Act is set to be considered by Congress as soon as next week and includes investments in domestic energy production, reducing carbon emissions, making prescription drugs more affordable and reducing the deficit.

“This bill makes generational investments in rural America to ensure that we are part of the climate and domestic energy solution. It gives farmers and rural communities a meaningful role in addressing climate challenges in a way that is also good for our bottom line. For instance, this bill makes the biggest investment in climate-smart agriculture in generations while also bolstering biofuels production that supports American farmers. In addition, this bill helps to drive down the deficit and will reduce the costs of prescription drugs for seniors and others across rural communities. This bill is a win for long-term rural viability and resiliency and Congress should move forward with passing it immediately.”
