(Washington, DC) - Today, Chris Gibbs, Ohio farmer and Board President of Rural Voices USA, the nationwide network of farmers and rural community leaders, released the following statement on Freedom Caucus members blocking critical funding for USDA. “House Freedom Caucus members, particularly those from ag districts, should be ashamed of themselves for blocking USDA programs that support American farmers and rural communities. Common sense Republicans like Randy Feenstra are right to be mortified by their actions. In my home state of Ohio, out of touch members like Jim Jordan are pulling the rug out from under farmers in the name of ideological purity. They ignore that the “spreadsheet” of cuts they have proposed impact the lives of farmers like me. Republicans need to use the August recess to pressure the Freedom Caucus to end their blockade on investments in farmers and rural America.”
